I'm not going to do a blow by blow account of this day
I'm just going to give you my impression of the event.
We arrived at the Gliderdrome at around 2pm, the place was already very full and I was a bit overwhelmed by the sea of friendly faces, all wanting to say hi.
It is lovely to be loved though. I'm not gonna complain about that at all.
You probably won't believe this but I am a naturally shy person and didn't have that many friends growing up. I was the one hiding at the back of the class not wanting to get noticed, keeping my head down and usually buried in a book. When it was time to select the football team I was always the last to be picked, mainly because I tried to make myself disappear in case I got chosen. Sometimes I succeeded, other times
I was put in goal, which was a disaster for everyone.
I used to bunk off school a lot, mainly to avoid gym and sports. I did like cross-country running though, I got to more or less walk around Wimbledon Common for an afternoon. The teachers didn't care what the kids did, we were just out of their hair and they could have a smoke and a cup of tea.
So, anyway, Dogfest
I didn't get to see as many bands as I would have liked as we spent a lot of time loading in, packing up and getting food in town. There was a lack of veggie food at the venue, not the fault of the organisation but due to that particular food truck not turning up. The backstage area was very comfy and we were well looked after by Yvonne, Wilf, Anita and Bernard (I always call him Bernie, I hope he doesn't mind).
Our gig was great, although I had a tech problem during A Place I Want To Be (I don't think anyone noticed :) ).
I have such brilliant band mates.
Jon, Richy and Bom played a storm.
I have to mention how good the sound crew were. Mark, Alex and Adam did a brilliant job throughout the day. I was supposed to thank them onstage, but I forgot.
We sold quite a few CDs and shirts during and after our performance. I got to meet a bunch of new people after we had packed up.
Our special secret stash of beers (thanks Yvonne) ran out quite early on so
We switched-up to brandy.
We all watched and sang along to Ferocious Dog who put on a great show with extra balloons and confetti drops.
This was a new venue for Dogfest and I think it worked really well. I hope that it is in the same place next year.
The show was over
Everyone was drunker than a drunk thing
It was a good day.
