New Abdou Album

Postby fruity » Tue Jan 31, 2012 9:38 pm

Doesn't time fly, it has been 6 years since the last Abdou album and it's about time that there was another, do you think?

Fear not, my friends, I am writing and recording as we speak and am making great progress so far.

Trouble is, I keep writing new tunes which I think are better than the others, some of the weaker ones have been shifted to the reserve bench for re-assessment :)

With perhaps a "deluxe edition", containing an extra disc of bonus tracks..?

A bit late, just noticed this. Will you be doing the usual pre-order funding of this album too???

The first single - 'Married To The Rock' - is out and no-one has commented?

I like the fact there's more lead guitar work on it while continuing the approach of a happy yet powerful riff chugging along. http://abdoujaparov.bandcamp.com for those who don't already have it.

Well the t-shirt arrived earlier this week and the CD arrived... and they are both bobbins! Thank you for the brilliant work and all your efforts in getting the stuff out to everyone, Fruity! 8) :D

Sadly Facebook has taken over my internet time to such an extent that I have not posted on here for ages and consequently not reviewed the album on here.

Besides saying that is bloody fantastic and the best thing Les has done (yes even the Carter stuff, take off those nostalgic beer tinted glasses folks and give SABP a listen on it's own merits), I have to single out the song Bodypart Superstore as my favourite on the album, both lyrically and musically. It's a hard choice, but I just really like the sentiment of the story on that one, and there's a repeated line on there that is very likely to become permanently inked onto my skin.

All the other songs are amazing too, and I really have to write a full review some day soon detailing each and every one of them and what is so brilliant about them all. Our Forum Creator is obviously very happy where he is now, both emotionally and physically and every other way possible, and it shines through every single note on that little disc. There were several points where I could feel Bowie's influence coming through, but not in any derivative or sound alike way, just that kind of musical genius that the best David Jones material has is also prevalent on this album too. To me it's the sound of a man finding himself and singing at the top of his lungs about the sheer joy and beauty of just being alive. The rest of the players in the band, and the numerous guests, have been taken along for the ride and were obviously swept up in the Folkestone sea front wave of happiness.

Thanks Mr Bat, for producing an album that truly stands up there with the greatest ever albums in rock history. You must be extremely proud of it. I know I am, and I wasn't even involved in it's production.
